Price Categories allow you to group various prices into different Categories. BETA shows statistics and insights based on Product Categories.

Attention: Price categories are case sensitive in BETA, meaning that categories like "merch" and "Merch" will be treated as separate. It’s important to keep this in mind when organizing your products, especially for integrations where case matters.

If no exact match is found, BETA falls back to the BETASL<TAX> sales account for that item’s tax rate.

When setting up your Price Categories in BETA, use a colon (:) to separate parent and sub-categories. This allows BETA to group transactions correctly in your Xero journals.

Correct examples:

Cafe:Hot Drinks

Passes:Day Entries

Retail:Clothing

Avoid using dashes (-), semicolons (;), or spaces as separators (e.g. Cafe - Hot Drinks), these won’t be recognized by the integration and will not group as expected.

Price categories let you group prices together. In the dropdown menu, click "Other" and enter the new category. Remember, these categories are case sensitive.

To remove a price category, locate all prices linked to it (look out for archived prices too) and update them with a desired category. See how to Edit create/delete a price category/label.

Use filters to quickly identify the prices associated with the ‘old’ category, including archived prices. For example, if you want to move products from "merch" to "Merch," use filters to make this process more efficient.
